Life’s been way too exciting :)

I have been neglecting my blog. Life’s been way too exciting and there’s been little time to write about it. Where to begin… Alana and I took her first long plane ride last week to Chicago. I went on business but brought her along to meet our family there. What a great opporunity to spend time with loved ones that we’ll never see enough, and Alana got to meet them all for the first time! The best part was getting to spend time with my aunt Sherry.. or as I call her, Auntie.. ooorr as Alana calls her Auntie Nin (Don’t ask).
One day after our return my mom (Grandma) came to Reno for a visit. Unfortunately I had to work so I didn’t get to spend as much time as I’d like but I was excited that she was able to spend a few days with Alana. We miss her so much already.
And then… tomorrow, my dad arrives. He’ll stay through Sunday. And next weekend John and Becky arrive (Matt’s sister or Aunt Becky) from Germany to see Alana for the first time. WHAT AN EXCITING COUPLE OF WEEKS.
In sad news, Alana has been suffering a lot lately. In Chicago, we both caught colds which probably wouldn’t have been such a big deal if she wasn’t teething at the same time. To compound matters, she got her four month shots on Wednesday. Poor sweetheart has been miserable all week.. but a little better today. I’m learning to appreciate a few great things in life:
  • Baby Tylenol
  • Baby Orajel (spelling)
  • The crib mobile (even though it has to be rewound every 2 minutes)
  • Rice Cereal……
Oh yeah.. Yesterday was a milestone for Alana as we fed her solid foods for the first time. She knew exactly what was up, opening her mouth and smacking her mouth like she’s chewing.. It’s amazing how babies inately just get some things. About an hour ago she had her fourth rice cereal feeding. By now, she knows the routine. We even play the “pretend the spoon is an airplane” game, and she just eats it up, literally.
At her doctors appointment this week, Alana weighed 17 lbs. and was 27 inches. 97th percentile in both height and weight. She’s a big healthy girl which is absolutely amazing. I also haven’t shared our new family photos with you.. Well here they are. Enjoy :)
Hopefully next time I don’t take such a long intermission from the blog. If you’re reading this, older Alana, mommy loves you. I’d blog more often but I’d rather hug you, hold you, kiss you and squeeze you. I hope you let me do that forever :) Love, Mom
